NIIOS pioneered these techniques, which we continue to develop and use. You can’t get closer to the source than that! NIIOS Academy offers a one-year Cornea Fellowship Program for ophthalmologists who wish to further specialize in corneal surgery. You will work closely with an enthusiastic team of corneal specialists, medical biologists and researchers.
Different types of training
NIIOS Academy organizes hands-on wetlab courses for general ophthalmologists and corneal surgeons who are interested in or have recently begun performing DMEK (Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty).
Bowman layer transplantation is the newest surgical technique for patients with advanced and progressive keratoconus and was pioneered by NIIOS in 2010. You will learn both the inlay as well as the onlay technique in a wetlab setting.
