NIIOS Academy
NIIOS Academy offers a broad post academic curriculum in advanced lamellar keratoplasty with a focus on (advanced) DMEK (Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty) and Bowman layer transplantation. NIIOS pioneered these techniques, which we continue to develop and use. You can’t get closer to the source than that! Our training programs are suitable for corneal surgeons, general ophthalmologists wishing to specialize, eye bank technicians, and other professionals in the field. Our educational activities are always based on the latest and most advanced knowledge, with tips and tricks straight from real-world practice.

Events, Congresses and Meetings
Our expert team of ophthalmologists, eye bank specialists and researchers give lectures, presentations and courses at leading congresses and meetings around the world. In addition, NIIOS Academy holds a variety of events.
Fellowship Program
NIIOS Academy offers a one-year Cornea Fellowship Program for ophthalmologists who wish to further specialize in corneal surgery. You will work closely with an enthusiastic team of corneal specialists, medical biologists and researchers.

NIIOS Academy offers different types of training. For our DMEK course on Sept 1/2 there are a few places left. The DMEK course and Bowman Layer Transplantation course in November are fully booked.
Different types of training
DMEK Wetlab
NIIOS Academy organizes hands-on wetlab courses for general ophthalmologists and corneal surgeons who are interested in or have recently begun performing DMEK (Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty).
Advanced Keratoconus Wetlab
Bowman layer transplantation is the newest surgical technique for patients with advanced and progressive keratoconus and was pioneered by NIIOS in 2010. You will learn both the inlay as well as the onlay technique in a wetlab setting.
Advanced DMEK Wetlab
For corneal surgeons who are already familiar with standard DMEK (Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty) and who would like to deepen their knowledge and experience, NIIOS Academy organizes advanced wetlab courses.
