Course Description
The NIIOS organizes wetlab instruction courses at regular time intervals. Each course consists of a two-day program scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday. At the first day (Tuesday), participants are invited to observe various live-surgeries in patients, and at the second day (Wednesday), participants receive a hands-on training in lamellar keratoplasty techniques in a wetlab set-up. It is anticipated that participants
- become familiair with the indications, results, complications and aftercare of the various surgical techniques for anterior and posterior lamellar keratoplasty and in particular DALK and DMEK;
- become familiar with the various methods for surgical preparation and preservation of donor corneal tissue used for DALK and DMEK;
- achieve a basic training in DALK and DMEK in porcine eyes;
- observe 3-4 live-surgeries to become familiar with relevant clinical protocols for DALK and DMEK.
If desired, it is possible to receive extra information about DSEK.
The educational level of the wetlab instruction courses is advanced. To apply, please download Wetlab Application Form or fill out the on-line form below.
Please note: Course fees are used entirely to cover the organizational costs of the wetlabs and to sponsor the R&D activities at the NIIOS, that lacks university grant support.
